Sarimsakli Karides (Shrimps Flavored with Garlic and Butter)

Ingredients

  • 15 large shrimp
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 15 cloves of garlic
  • 12 slices bread
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper and 2 teaspoons salt

Directions

Remove the heads, shells and black veins from the shrimp. Make a 3 cm cut diagonally into the top section. Boil the 4 cups of water with the bay leaves, the vinegar and salt. One by one put the shrimp into the pan, boil for 4 minutes and take them out.

Melt the butter with chopped garlic and a teaspoon of salt in a pan. Put the shrimp in the pan, add a glass of the water in which the shrimp was boiled and cook for 15 minutes.

Sprinkle shrimp with red pepper and serve along with toasted bread slices.
