Kereviz Yaprakli Nohut (Chick Peas With Celery Greens)


  • 1 cup garbanzo beans (if not canned, 1 cup dried beans must be soaked overnight and then boiled in salted water for one hour)
  • 1 1/2 cups celery greens
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste


Cook onions in the oil until they are transparent and add the garbanzos that are half cooked, stir for a few minutes, then add the celery, sugar, salt and pepper. Add 3/4 cup water to simmer for about half an hour. Garbanzos must be well cooked and the celery not mushy. Serve warm.
Serves 6.
